Founded in 1989 STEP program was developed to improve safety performance regardless of a company’s size or the company’s type of work. ABC member measures their safety processes on 25 components. They evaluate these parameters with a questionnaire in which the ultimate goal is to implement and enhance safety programs to reduce job site incidents.
The program is an organized approach to analyzing and developing safety and loss prevention programs. STEP is a proven and valuable resource to ABC contractors which was specifically designed to support members in the development and continuous improvement of safety training and efforts with the collective goal of ensuring continued worker well-being and health.
DREI is proud to say that in both 2019 and 2018 we qualified as a STEP Platinum recipient and in 2017 we qualified as a STEP Diamond recipient. For a small business such as ours, this is a huge accomplishment and we are proud to qualify for this recognition.
The whole program is based on the ABC and Merit shop Philosophy. ABC believes both employees and employers should have the right to determine wages and working conditions through bargaining, within the law. Employers have a concern for the general welfare of the employee as well as the employee should have the obligation to deliver exemplary work on any assigned task.
